When the pandemic sent the entire world into lockdown for inordinate days, we were left yearning to dip our toes into clear waters and stroll around our favourite exotic places. If 2020 has taught us anything, it is to never miss out on the beauty of the world outside. But fashion is an escape in more ways than one. While we were unable to explore new places, our favourite designers served up sweet sartorial getaways for the jet setter in you.
Such as the Hututi series by Shivan & Narresh that adorned Korea’s native birds and fauna with edgy resort wear. Anita Dongre reminisced an ancient Indian city with her handwoven Benarasi lehengas and saris.

Picture walking across bustling Turkish markets, feasting your eyes on the meticulously patterned carpets, pottery and assorted wares. The old-world spots of Turkey created a whimsical canvas for Payal Singhal’s contemporary wedding wear. Picking the colour theme from Anatolia rugs and Ikat weaves, the designer translates old-world bohemia into statement tops, draped pants, kurta sharara sets, draped saris and lehengas.

Payal Singhal continued to tap into travel and art for her inspiration with her Café Morocco collection for PS by Payal Singhal. The pret collection features pretty postcard prints, elements of souks and cafes in breezy maxi dresses, tunics and the ultimate vacation stunner: kaftans.

To bring alive a scenic Moroccan backdrop amidst a lockdown launch, AMPM aced the hack with stills, 3D portraits and animations for the ‘Zahia’ collection inspired by Talitha Getty’s Palais de la Zahia.

The meticulous artwork features engraved foliage and vivid colours on doorways. Mediterranean architecture offset the delicately hand-embroidered motifs. Colour-blocking and hints of classic ivory and gold enrich the collection. It boasts signature versatile tailored jackets, fuss-free tunics and concept saris pictured against exquisite architectural marvels of Morocco.
Masaba
Righteously called the maven of prints, Masaba brings tropical bliss into our wardrobes. The Indo-Caribbean label makes every outing a sunny adventure with a splash of colours and quirky prints. The vibrant patterns and vacay-ready kaftans were also spotted on Kareena Kapoor Khan and Malaika Arora when the outside glam had come to a standstill in their lives as well.
